Hey Mitch,

Who hoo–fourth of July :-\. No fireworks stands around here. Not even the safe ‘n’ sane stuff like we used get at Fred Meyers when we were kids. Well, I did find some pop its, but big fat deal. At least The Company’s putting on some kind of fireworks display tonight. There’ll be food and music this afternoon followed by the show. I hope it’s better than the picnic was. Continue reading

Hi Mom,

Finally got to take a look around town but I still can’t figure out where we are. There’s more dirt and sand than trees and bushes. All the yards look like someone laid sod a few days before we got here. The trees I have seen are short and scraggly. Did I mention it’s flat? When you get to the edge of the compound (that’s what it feels like with the fencing around it) you can see for miles in all directions. There’s not a mountain in site. Hi Aunt Julie,

Sorry I missed you this morning. I wanted to get out and explore the neighborhood before it gets too hot. I’ll be back in time for lunch.

By the way, was that you out in the back yard last night? I thought I saw you down by the tree. After I went to bed I realized your hair is longer and the clothes looked baggy. Kinda rustic, not the flowery stuff you usually wear. It reminded me of someone I saw at the picnic yesterday. She was hanging off away from the crowd watching everybody.

Hey Mitchell,

Sorry I couldn’t be there for your birthday. Paintball would’ve been fun. I hope you nailed your cousin Peter for me. I was looking forward to getting him after he and Russell pinned me in that bunker last summer when my goggles fogged. I bet you didn’t let him pull that dead man walking routine again. :-b

Hi Mom,

We moved into the new house late last night. You wouldn’t believe it. All the stuff in my room was already unpacked and set up just like it was back at home. It was almost like we didn’t move, except my room is bigger and my window looks out over the back yard instead of the street. There’s this huge tree in the back yard that looks great for climbing. Don’t worry, I won’t break my leg, my back or my skull.
